We all benefit from technology, yet what provides us our daily bread is nature. Most poor families rely on some hens and on a piece of land, where they can grow their staple food. However, without proper irrigation crops are at stake.
At their Noviciate in Kenya, the Consolata Missionaries house an average of 30 candidates every year. The candidates, called Novices, come from different parts of Africa, Europe and Asia. They spend a year of intense preparation for their Religious Vows as Consolata Missionaries.
Consolata Missionaries – Kenya Noviciate
On a piece of land in the Noviciate compound, Father John Mugambi, the Novice Master, would like to install a Water Tank and a Green House with a Drip Irrigation System. With this equipment, the 30 Novices will have fresh vegetables all year around. One less expense item, on an already heavy budget! Yet, there is another goal Fr. John has: to provide further training for the candidates. Through this project they will learn how to benefit from farming without depending upon the whims of the weather. A skill they will carry with themselves and can teach to others all their missionary life.
To carry out this project, Fr. John needs $6,000.
With your help, Father John will lower his daily expenses on vegetables. Moreover, he will provide the Consolata Missionary Novices with the training for self support from which they will benefit for the rest of their lives, in whatever mission place they will be working.
