On January 31, 2018 we learned that the Holy Father had just authorized the beatification of Sister Leonella Sgorbati on Saturday, May 26, 2018 in Piacenza, Italy.
Sister Leonella, a nurse, was shot dead on September 17, 2006 in Mogadishu, Somalia, while on her way to work. Her last words were: “I forgive, I forgive, I forgive …”.
Her martyrdom is an extraordinary expression of total self-giving, a vibrant testimony of her unconditional love for the Father and for her sisters and brothers of Islam.
Let us give thanks to the Lord, to Our Lady Consolata and to Our Blessed Founder for the wonderful gift given to the great family of the Consolata Missionaries!
