I am Father Paolo and am writing today to ask for your help. Last year, our Superiors sent me – together with two other Consolata Missionaries, Fr. Peter and Fr. Timothy – to the United States with a goal: to find the most meaningful activity we should be involved in for the glory of God and the good of the people missionaries are called to serve in this country.
We have been here in Somerset New Jersey only a few months, however looking around, it seems to us that some of the neediest people in our area are the Latino immigrants, as many of them are not conversant with English and would love to have a priest who could speak their language. In his weekly visits to the patients at the Catholic hospital in New Brunswick, Fr. Peter has found many people he can help with this problem.
Fr. Timothy, who recently spent some days in a Native American Reservation in Arizona, was struck by seeing many missions, established centuries ago, now left without priests for lack of vocations. The Native Americans he met are also people in need who surely would benefit from having missionaries living among them again.
Our challenge now is to start a new activity of the Consolata Missionaries here in the States. We will be deciding on the location in the upcoming months. We need so much to do this — but we are confident that with the strength from Above and your help, we will succeed. Your gift will enable us to be closer to the people who are most in need in this country. We have little, but with your donation our dream can become a reality!
Thank you in advance and may the Lord reward you for your generosity!
Father Paolo Fedrigoni,
Superior of the Consolata Missionary in Somerset, NJ.
